The fashion of 21st century has seen many changes; styles and ideas intervene with the intent of creating memorable pieces, landmarks of our time. We were given the liberty to mix and match the new and the old, creating unique outfits that set us apart from the fashionista group and speak of our individuality at length.
One such style that emerged from careless try outs and hopeful mixes is boho chick. Boho started out as a hippie trend and slowly developed into a beautiful combination of romantic influences and hippie clothing culture. With Kate Moss, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, and Sienna Miller as boho’s ambassadors (although they were never approached openly), the whole world went crazy over this amazing style. It wasn’t long before it became one of the favorite clothing styles of the young.
If you are looking into embracing boho for the summer, here are some tips that will steer you in the right direction.
1. Individuality is key
Pursuing boho is all about staying natural and expressing your individuality. The best tones for this style are earthy tones with splashes of color like green, magenta, orange and darker shades of hot pink. And while boho means wearing a bit looser clothes, don’t go baggy. Flowy skirts, dresses and shirts are the best options. As for boho fabrics, almost anything goes, and clashing two very different materials will do wonders. Try buying some yarn, and making your own little accessories to compliment your outfits.
2. Boho shoe-wear
Depending on your preference, shoes can vary in style and color. The obvious choices are sandals of course, but boots with fringe or legwarmers may look really chic. Experiment and make it cute!
3. Hair for Boho
Boho means embracing the wild, free persona in you. Flat ironed hair isn’t in tone with such character, which is why we’d advise leaving your hair curly, wavy or at least a bit curved at the bottom. Braids and Afros are also very boho. The idea is to let your natural beauty take over.
The strait emo or scene style is definitely not boho.
4. Boho on the Beach
Don’t think your boho chick is limited to the street only. The beach is also a great arena to exercise your new boho style, especially with your skin now tanned and glowing. The best way to stay boho on the beach is to lightly accessorize your beach outfit with feather earrings or necklaces, hair bands, interesting bracelets and ankle bracelets. A crochet swimsuit is a must piece for anyone going boho this summer! There is probably nothing as chick as a crochet swimsuit if you are looking to turn heads on the beach.
5. Make-up that fits
And while you won’t be wearing full on makeup on the beach, a touch of lip balm won’t do any harm. The idea is to look radiant and fresh, so say goodbye to flaky, dry, chapped lips. After applying lip balm, use a color that looks natural on you and emphasizes that gorgeous pout. Don’t use glittery makeup.
For a summery night out in your boho syle, point out your cheekbones with a rosy or bronze blush for added freshness. Run fingers through your hair to give it that added volume and place accent on your natural curls. The great thing about boho is that it is so easy to embrace and maintain which is perfect for anyone and everyone with a wild spirit!
We hope our little boho guide helped! Remember - boho is all about staying natural, sweet and light, so don’t overdo your style and stay chic!
