Rise and shine!
Often, when on a vacation, it’s hard to find time to exercise or do any other physical activity. That’s why you should make your own time by waking up early and going for a swim or any other outdoor activity. It is a great way to explore the area and the very sight of the coast when you are running will boost your energy. As for the swimming part, it is after all, an essential activity on a vacation, but now you’ll do it for recreational purposes. Encourage your friends and family to join you for additional motivation.
Walk and dance
Where ever you can, go on foot. It will give you the chance to get a full insight of the place you are staying in and an extra perk of burning the calories. Another fun and exciting way to stay fit is by dancing. Consider dance as a form of aerobics which provides you cardiovascular conditioning, improves muscle strength and bone density, reduces stress and burns up to 500 calories in just a couple of hours. A major plus is that it is extremely fun thing to do.
Sure, you could eat barbecue and desserts and drink cocktails and beer all day every day, but what would your body and heart think of you? You can allow yourself treats on vacation, but keep in mind that moderation is the key. If your hotel doesn’t offer many alternatives to unhealthy food and you need some dietary supplements for workout time, there are online stores, such as Kill Cliff where you can order healthy protein bars and sugar-free recovery drinks with up to 20 calories and find out more about healthy diet and staying fit. Allow yourself one splurge meal a day and make the remaining meals healthy.
Use the surroundings
Make your surroundings work for you. If your hotel is located near some hill or mountain, the sheer proximity of it will lure you to go for hiking. Make it a task for yourself to discover a new place every day. You can explore hidden beaches not yet touched by tourist noise. Use the inside of your hotel for an active vacation. Book a room on 6th floor or higher and never use the elevator. If your hotel has a gym, take the most out of it, by going every day even if on short workout sessions. You can meet new people who can give you dietary and fitness advices.
Enjoy your vacation and remember the wise words of Antoine de St. Exupery, that if you want to travel happily, you must travel light. Have that advice on mind when you grab your third hamburger a day, and ask yourself: “Should I choose something light?” Deprive yourself the second two and you’ll enjoy even more.
