So it’s not a surprise to see that his non-foil version has ticked up almost a dollar over the past month or so. Set foils haven’t grown much, hovering around $4, but that’s due to the presence of the full art Game Day foil. However, as the Game Day foil supply dries up, it’s not hard to figure that M12 foils could go crazy in a hurry. You can’t really go wrong with this guy, as his $2 floor was hit a year ago. Unless he gets reprinted, this is one of the best inexpensive Modern investments you can make right now.
While you’re at it, you may want to check out Leatherback Baloth, too. His price has doubled over the past few months, and he’s a triple-green 4 / 5. It looks like Mono-Green Devotion as a deck archetype is becoming a huge obsession with the release of Nissa, Vastwood Seer, and it may be well-deserved. Now it’s wait-and-see if a real deck emerges.
(Note: the Elder is already over $5 on Amazon and foils are getting extremely expensive! As I’ve learned, Amazon seems to be a great meter of casual demand. I think it’s only a matter of time before the rest of the Magic card market catches up)
