It's not terrible simply because it is a land and if you have open mana on a turn to use on its pressure counter ability, it's worth it. A 4/4 creature token with haste can help in certain situations, so it's a nice utility card to have in a mono-red deck. If you have four of these in play, it can make for quite a predicament if you can play a board wipe and then get through with all four tokens.
Truthfully, though, it's not really a good Constructed card due to the mana investment. Especially in Red, six mana can be used far more effectively. It might be most useful in EDH, but that one creature is usually not going to make much of a difference in that format anyway. It's not terrible if you just need something to sink extra mana into (which can certainly happen in Red). Otherwise, it's a rare to pass on.
