Hunger starts with breakfast. At least that's how one school (Centennial High School) in Pueblo, Colorado sees it. Every morning during announcements in first period, students are served breakfast. This way, disadvantaged students do not need to be singled out when they are receiving a free meal in the cafeteria. Some students are too embarrassed to admit they are low-income and so they skip breakfast. By serving it free to all students every morning, this issue is avoided and all students get fed at least once per day. According to some of the kids, it helps increase concentration as well.
