Samson couldn't sleep that night. He decided to write some more about Luna Dawnstar to keep his mind occupied.
It was time to get to the serious stuff.
Luna Dawnstar, Aletto Stiletta, and Kissa Noel became more than just good friends. After realizing their destiny to bring order to Felonia, the three became vigilantes. With the power of their Soul Swords, they became an unstoppable force.
Together, the three decided to call themselves Team Luna. With nothing but their willpower and magical weapons, they were able to force the Thirteen Prides fighting to a standstill and end the seemingly endless Civil War!
From there, Luna took charge using CRONOKAI's time-warping abilities and the Divine Intervention power it granted her. Luna made anyone who defied her suffer some of the most amusing (and sometimes unintentionally cruel) fates!
"I will cleanse the evil from your soul!" Luna would shout. But the after-effects were often not at all what she expected.
"Wait, why did he turn into a garbage can? I knew he was trash, but DAMN!"
“OK,” Sam told himself, that may be a bit much. “But I'll leave it for now.”
With her unmatched power, Luna Dawnstar was named Queen of the Prides. No one could possibly oppose her. Those that tried failed miserably.
When she was officially crowned Queen by the Thirteen Prides, Luna named Kissa and Aletto her first warrior princesses. Then, she proceeded to one by one choose the most desirable mate from each Pride.
Over the next twenty years, Luna had a child by each of them. With the thirteen sons and daughters of Luna, the Royal Luna bloodline was established. Every Pride was now linked to royalty, and the planet saw a peace it had never seen before!
For quite a while, Luna Dawnstar's reign went pretty well...
But it wasn't without challenges. Felona are stubborn, often very selfish beings. Luna did her best to be a fair and kind ruler as her mother had been for her own pride.
But with ruling an entire world, she had to rule with an iron paw! Unfortunately, she was pretty brutal at times!
"You did WHAT!?" Luna might say, "Tripped your little sister? To the gallows!"
Sam thought about what Gina's response would be and shrugged, "OK, not THAT bad," he said to himself, making a note in his manuscript to that effect.
Still, things went pretty well for awhile. But then, Luna's firstborn child, Arie, secretly began to plot against her! Her brothers and sisters all seemed to worship her mother. But Arie saw her only for her flaws. Her anger towards Queen Luna was so obvious that even her daughter knew something was wrong.
"Mama, what's wrong?" her daughter Ruby Skyfire asked her mother.
"There's nothing divine about Queen Luna's interventions!" Arie Starr told her. "I'll show her!"
Despite all the rumors that went around, Luna denied the possibility of any plot against her ever happening. She would keep on denying it for quite some time. That is, until very strange and unusual creatures arrived at her doorstep.
The Queen actually knew that would be expecting visitors, strange and unusual ones, at that. But she could not exactly imagine what they would look like.
Before now, a Felona had never seen a Foxy, so a creature that resembled a blend between a fox and a canine was a bit strange. To most races, the Foxy were a fluffy, adorable species. But to the Felona, canine and lupine races were repulsive. They considered them the lowest form of sentient life.
The expression on Queen Luna's face when the first Elemental Masters graced her with her presence was quite foul. But her visitors did not seem at all taken aback.
There were two Foxy who came to call on Queen Luna. One was a tan and orange male with dark red eyes. The other was a red-haired female with big blue eyes and floppy dark red ears. Her long, tidy mane was snow white in contrast with the cherry red that the rest was. She also had two tails, a trait which seemed very strange to the Felona.
Both of the Foxy wore light blue tight-fitting suits of light armor. The female's armor was certainly adapted to show off her every curve. The male's armor was bulkier and perhaps much more effective at doing what it was actually meant to do - in that, be armor.
"We're from the world of Miranda Prime!" the male said. "We've come in peace!"
"We have word that your defenses have been compromised!" the female added.
"What are you, creatures?" a shocked Queen Luna asked.
"We call ourselves the Children of Miranda, the Foxy," the female answered.
Luna had heard of the Children of Miranda. Now she knew they were more than simply legend. For these Children to turn out to be a blend of both canine and lupine sickened Luna.
"Where ever you are from, I'm honored to have you," Luna said as politely as she could. She could tell that they were on the same side.
"Mother Miranda sent us here to help you," the male added.
"So you're from another world?" Luna asked. "How is that possible?"
"We have our ways," the female replied. "All that's important is that we have a common enemy."
The male canine looked about for a minute. He didn't see anyone else in the room besides Luna and his mate. Of course, Felona are sneaky and stealthy creatures. Indeed, there were other Felona in the room, namely Kissa and Luna's daughter Cleo, named after her late Aunt.
"His name is Koja, a Dark Mage," the male Foxy said. "He is looking for a power called Dawnbreaker."
"Do you know of this power?" the female Foxy asked.
"Why should I trust you?" Luna asked. She hesitated, realizing that Aletto, wielder of Dawnbreaker, was not nearby as she usually was. Perhaps these visitors had come to help a bit too late.
Out of seemingly thin air, Cleopatra Starr appeared. Her coat was a lovely shade of grey and her eyes were a shining bright blue. She regarded the newcomers much differently than her mother, actually finding them to be tolerable to look at.
"Their story checks out, Mama Luna," Cleo reported, "They're here to help."
"Cleo, what's going on? These aliens! Who is this Koja?"
She turned the other direction and gestured for Kissa to come forward. "Yes, milady?"
"Kissa, get Aletto in here now!"
Where is Aletto anyway? Luna thought.
"I hope we are not too late," said the male Foxy. "We have come a long way."
"The Dark Mage Koja is cunning and devious," said the female, "We believe he may have mind-twisting spells, thanks to the Dark Mistress Shadoura."
"Am I to understand you have followed them to our humble world?" Luna asked.
"We followed Koja," admitted the male. "We do not know Shadoura's whereabouts. She does, in fact, move as a shadow. The skies and stars don't hinder her movements."
That greatly unnerved Luna. While she was sure that CRONOKAI would warn her of imminent danger, it was well within possibility that this Shadoura herself was within earshot.
Just outside the throne room, Luna noticed one of her granddaughters wandering around. It was Ruby, Arie's daughter.
When the little girl noticed the Queen, she asked, "What's going on, Queen Luna?"
"Ruby, dear, have you seen Princess Aletto?"
"No, milady. Actually, I was wondering if you've seen Mama Arie?"
"I ordered her to stay put with the nonsense going on surrounding her!"
"I know," Ruby said, "But she's disappeared!"
Kissa returned in a rush, "Milady! Aletto is not at her post or in her quarters! I can't find her anywhere!"
Luna couldn't hide her fear any longer. There was quite a frown on her face. "That's not like her at all. Where could she be?"
"Is there any way we can help?" the female Foxy wondered.
Not actually ignoring the Foxy, Luna turned to Kissa first. "Princess Kissa, it appears we have an Aletto to find!" She drew CRONOKAI, hoping that her Sword would tell her something pertinent. But at the moment, it wasn't.
"I'll get Hawky and we'll be off," Kissa said. "What about those two?"
Luna turned back to the two Foxy, "I would appreciate your aid in our search, Foxy. Do you have any special skills?
"Yes, I'm Kap," the male Foxy said. "Master of the Winds! WOOSH!" He summoned a great breeze which cooled everyone off.
"I'm Olivia, Master of Flame!" the female Foxy said. "Yay, fire!" She summoned a fireball in her outstretched left hand.
"You Foxy are proper weirdos," Luna commented. "But I appreciate any help!"
"They're friendly enough, Mama Luna," Cleo remarked, "And eager to please!"
"I'll trust your judgment, my dear Cleo. Take care of the throne while I'm away."
"You can count on me, Mama! Good luck hunting!"
Whilst preparing for the search, Luna had a heart-to-heart with Kissa.
"Kissa, how would an off-worlder know about Dawnbreaker?"
"Not sure, Luna. But clearly, there are those that do!"
"This Koja, I wonder what he's up to."
"If he's after Dawnbreaker, then probably no good..."
"I wonder why Dawnbreaker and not CRONOKAI?"
"Not Hawkmancer, either. That does seem awfully specific. Why just that one and not all three?"
"You don't think he's after Aletto herself!?"
"She's Aletto, the Warrior Princess of Justice! She'll never betray us!"
Or would she? Luna wasn't so sure anymore, especially learning of this Dark Mistress Shadoura.
These were dark times.
