A HISTORY LESSON
Once upon a time, there was a system of seven planets. Each of these planets was a part of the League of Worlds, a federation of species who lived in peace and harmony...
The Foxy Samson Quin put the tip of his pencil to the side of his mouth, thinking deeply before writing one last bit.
At least for the most part...
Just then, Samson was interrupted by his study period teacher.
"You look deep in thought, Mr. Quin," said the lovely blue-eyed, orange Foxy vixen.
"Well, Ms. Harrison," Samson explained, "I'm trying to find the best way to tell this great new story I have here."
Britney Harrison's smile faded to a thin line, "This is an academic study period, Sam. Shouldn't you be doing your homework?"
"Oh, I'm done with that," Samson enthusiastically replied. "And besides, this story is historical fiction!”
The bit about history got Britney's attention. Her eyes glowed with the same enthusiasm as Samson's. “What's it about?”
“The LEGEND OF CRONOKAI!" Samson replied.
"I love your passion for history! Maybe you can tutor my daughter?"
"Sure, I'd love to help!" Samson happily offered. "Can she draw?"
While Britney appreciated his acceptance of her offer, his request for unusual compensation perplexed her. "Huh? What do you mean by that?"
"Well, my time is valuable," Samson explained, "But, I could use an artist to illustrate my novel!"
Britney wasn't convinced, "Well, I'm not sure that art is her thing.” She trailed off for a moment. “Why not just ask for money?"
Samson knew that Britney Harrison had more than enough money to reward him handsomely for tutoring their daughter. Her late husband, Louie, had been quite rich. But, money did not interest Samson in the least. At least, not at the moment.
"It would help her learn history,” he proposed. “Art would just be a bonus!”
Ms. Harrison responded coolly to his proposal. "Quite a proposition. I'll discuss it with her.”
“For now, keeping working, Sam."
Samson was not at all discouraged by Ms. Harrison's apparent coolness as she walked away. He knew she would be more than happy to help him out. Samson felt confident in his belief as he watched her long, luxuriant tail wag as she returned to her front desk.
It didn't matter how much older Britney was than him. He still found her remarkably attractive. She was an extremely pretty widowed vixen.
Despite every attempt to hide it, Britney really liked Samson, too. Britney had been his history teacher not too long ago. He knew she liked him as more than just a former student. For Sam, it was just a crush. It may have been a bit more to Britney.
"Thanks, Ms. Harrison! Hope I can help!"
Immediately afterward, Samson began to scribble furiously in his notebook.
"OK, now then..." he mumbled, "This is a story about... hmm..."
Samson scribbled the profile of a lovely female feline. She was snow-white with big eyes and long hair tied back in a ponytail. With his colored pencils, he filled in her hair with purple and her eyes with a bright green.
"Felonia's greatest hero, Queen Luna Dawnstar!" he announced quietly, but proudly, to himself.
This drawing now complete, he continued to write.
Luna Dawnstar was born on the planet of Felonia. It was a world constantly in a state of civil war between the Thirteen Felona Prides who inhabited it. Every night, Luna would pray to the heavens above to bring unity to her people and peace to their world!
As it turned out, Luna was not alone in her prayers. A young warrior princess named Aletto also prayed to the heavens at night. Aletto prayed for a kind and just ruler who would unite the Felona and bring order to the world! Obviously, having thirteen different leaders who constantly bickered and fought with one another wasn't working!
Meanwhile, a young Azure artist named Kissa Noel also prayed! She prayed that someone who come and bring hope to the war-ravaged world. Kissa wanted someone who would give every day Felona like herself something to look forward to.
One night, their prayers were answered. Three beings of light descended onto Felonia. Each one of the girls was visited by a different one of the beings. They were then each led to meet one another and their destiny!
The three girls had never met before. But when they did that night, it was like they'd known each other for their entire lives!
"Hey, girls, what's up?" Luna asked her two new friends.
"It's been like, never, since I saw you!" Kissa greeted with a grin.
Aletto was particularly impressed by the looks of the gorgeous young Luna. "She's the prettiest girl I've never met! Wouldn't you agree, Kissa?"
Kissa nodded in agreement. "So who are these beings that brought us here?" she asked.
The three beings of light descended on the three young Felona. They were all together this time. Each was identical, except for the colors of their dresses and their hair, both of which matched. One was green, one was blue, and the other was red.
"We are the Divas of Fate!" the green one said.
"We decided to answer your prayers, pure-hearted kittens." the blue one followed.
"We will lend you some of our Transcendent Powers so that you can change your world!" the red one explained.
The Divas of Fate lent Luna, Kissa, and Aletto some of their power in the form of powerful weapons known as the Soul Swords.
These Soul Swords granted their users with unimaginable power. Each took their wielder's willpower and spirit and channeled them into a magical force known as Aurika!
The first of these swords, Hawkmancer, was given to Kissa. It allowed her to control the winds, as well as channel thunder and lightning into devastating attacks!
"You've been... THUNDERSTRUCK!" Kissa called as she sent a random bolt of lightning hurtling towards the ground.
The second of the swords, Dawnbreaker, was given to Aletto. It gave her the power to rain destruction on her enemies and make them cower in fear.
But Aletto was more mesmerized by other aspects of her new weapon.
"Ooh, shiny!" Aletto remarked happily. "Can I poke you with it?"
Both Kissa and Luna gave her strange looks in response to her question.
The last of the Swords was without a doubt the most powerful of them all: CRONOKAI! It gave Luna the ability to slow or freeze time. It could even reverse it slightly!
CRONOKAI also had another power called Divine Intervention. But the Fates
warned her not to use it except in the direst of circumstances.
Not that she would listen.
Meanwhile, on a planet not too far away, another Transcendent being was twisting Fate. This time, it was not as an answer to prayer...
Samson penned those words just as the bell rang to announce the end of study period. It was also the final bell of the school day. Feeling that he was off to a good start, Sam was not upset for the day to end. It was perfect timing as he was at a good stopping point. He was quite satisfied with his early progress.
Later that afternoon, Ms. Harrison rang Samson at his house. She wanted him to start tutoring her daughter, Gina-Lou, immediately. She said payment was pending, based on the effectiveness of his tutoring.
This would be interesting, Sam told himself. Gina-Lou was no ordinary child. From what he understood, she would probably be the one really tutoring him.
He was fine with that.
