Black is Beautiful

Coming from a pasty white Caucasian chick, the words "Black is Beautiful" perhaps sound a bit odd. But let me tell you something. "Black" people are really beautiful. I've always greatly admired just how black women are held to such a different standard of beauty by pretty much all of society.

Let me tell you why in one word: confidence. Black women often have a sort of confidence, and I don't know if it's just bred into them, that a lot of white women seem to lack. Most black women don't care at all about weight and tend to go pretty nuts with their hairstyles. Not only do they look gorgeous, especially the more curvy ones, but men, black, white and otherwise, just drool over them.

Also, black men get a really unfair rap, pun intended. Most of them are amazing human beings that actually treat women as the beautiful gems that they are. Yeah, a lot of them don't, but a lot of men are rotten, just as a lot of women are rotten. But more often than not, it's black boys and girls that tell me that I'm gorgeous and sexy. So you may be able to understand why I love them back in much the same way.

"White" girls always said I was fat, that my hair wasn't right, and I needed nicer clothes. No, I was perfectly fine the way that I was. It oddly enough wasn't until after high school that I started to feel inadequate, when a lot of the beautiful black people weren't around to tell me that I was amazing just as I was. Interestingly enough, it was a white guy who finally told me that I was the most beautiful woman in the world. So yeah, there's good guys of every color. But growing up, it was the black guys that told me they wanted me as their boo. I was happy to oblige. Especially for the black girls that wanted the same.

A growing trend I've noticed is how a lot of girls (even pasty white ones like myself) who the "preppy" crowd won't accept start to emulate "black" behavior! These girls are often very much curvy and some of them do some wacky things with their style and even emulate "black" speech patterns and attitudes. If not for the color of their skin, you'd never know they were white.

Sure, a lot of these girls get mocked and laughed at, but some of them are the most beautiful and confident women I've ever seen. A lot of them have become really good underground rappers. They're boss bitches and I adore them. And parents think that "black culture" is bad on their daughters.  But not at all. Black culture just seems to inspire a lot of self-confidence. I think that's pretty awesome. It's the  same for white males, too, and it's perfectly cool.

I'm not much of a rapper, but I have decent rhythm. I don't pull off "black" very well at all without sounding and looking completely comical. So I'm pretty white girly. But that doesn't seem to matter. I'm still hot to the black guys - ha, ha! If God forbid anything ever goes south, I always know my black brothers and sisters will be there to back me up!

Black is beautiful!
