I was familiar with this quote due to my study of a wide range of presidents during high school and college. I bounced around in college between History, Government, and English, so I was exposed to a lot of stuff about the First Ladies. Eleanor had a lot of great quotes, but this one is probably one that should be quoted far more often than it is.
So many days I will wake up with worries. I will get stuck on those worries and they drag me down. I think about past failures, and thinking that I am simply reflecting on them and trying to learn from them, I find myself still thinking about them. The more that you think about failure, the more that you end up dooming yourself to fail.
Therefore, it's important every morning to look forward. Think about your dreams and set goals. This is how I've come to turn myself around after years of wallowing in depression. You have to find coaches to help you with your goals and keep you on track to achieve your dreams! This is what my upcoming novel is about, albeit done in a fantastical and colorful way, but that is my goal: to help others visualize the steps they need to take to reach their dreams! It's working for me, and I'm sure it will work for you, too!
