One of the more interesting players being talked about in the sports card market is Lonzo Ball. Between constant injuries and a move to New Orleans, Ball's rookie cards took a nosedive. Of course, that drop presented opportunity.
More than a few NBA card collectors and investors snapped up multiple copies of Lonzo Ball's 2017 Panini Prizm Rookie Card graded PSA 10. His more rare Silver Prizm Rookie card has become a hot target, as well. His Prizm Rookie Signatures, pictured here, is another card worth looking at.
Of course, many people may wonder why put money on Ball? He's been consistently injured and isn't guaranteed starter's playing time in New Orleans. However, with Zion Williamson coming in, and Jrue Holiday already there, the chance for Lonzo Ball to reemerge as an impact player for the Pelicans is there. In fact, popular analytics website FiveThirtyEight projects his career to be about as good as the highly regarded Jayson Tatum and even better than that of young Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell.
Yes, Lonzo Ball will have to stay healthy and actually perform. But, the skills are there and he may have a chance to really prove himself. Plenty of collectors are taking the risk on him and so are the Pelicans. Will the Pelicans and investors be richly rewarded? We shall see.
