The Top Pampered Champs (Poetry)

“The Top Pampered Champs” is a silly poem based on a dream I had about a book review series with the same title.

March 20, 2019

In these hallowed spaces we celebrate the whimsical

In these eminent pages we recognize the nonsensical

With our ever darkening world we need more than ever

To recognize truly exceptional and wonderful endeavors

We call the best of the best our top pampered champs.

Their work carefully scrutinized under high powered Scrutinization Lamps

Our champion subjects range from the lost and untold stories of Zeus

To super silly songs and really just about anything by Dr Seuss

What Makes Me Come Alive? (Poetry)

“What Makes Me Come Alive?” is a poem about always pursuing what makes you happy and fulfilled, no matter what it takes.

May 2, 2018

What will make me come alive?
How will I burn forever bright?
With this eternal overdrive
Bathing in Creation's light

Knowing wrong from right
Means nothing in this
Birth of day from nights
Of innocent bliss

Pursuing a happiness
Undeterred in its method
Create at any and all costs
Even if you end up dead

Victory for Literacy (Poetry)

1/10/2015

by Joshua Packard, JRPSongs
Picture

Taking aim at a full time victory
In the name of full rhyme literacy
Storing coffers of words wonderful
Like diet vegetables alphabetical

Quirks grammatical and parenthetical
Purely suitable, sublime and beautiful
Education fruitful to beyond what's usable

Vocalizing vibrations and sweet salutations
More than mere information squeezed through dense inebriation
Delightful and dialectical
Tested, tried, and true subliminal
Intentional, conscious and un-criminal
Maximum value of the minimal

Vocabulary strained and flexing
As some Wiccan form of hexing
Green, and red and yellow directing
Like the parallel intersecting
Bite the apple to the core
Crush the juice into  some more
Dancing flavors back in store
Let it discover what it's for

An incredible work of art
Formed from cold steel
But when made to resemble
Human form
When it’s seen
It feels warm
So much planning
Twisting, bending
To achieve desired form
The creator decreed
The work a failure
But those sharp edges
And rough corners
Are only human
The true form
Of a man

Traces of You (Poetry)

Wicked places

Ugly faces

Yet everywhere I look

I’ve seen traces of you

I could write a book

Outlining hat you took

My heart, my soul, my pride

I’ve locked your memory

Up deep inside

Familiar faces

Bring back happy places

I could’ve run the races

But I just walked on the side

No one in which to confide

My deepest secret, the divide

That tears me apart inside

Traces of you

Memories of your face

And longing fruitlessly

To be locked in your embrace

I just can’t provide

The reasons that I hide

As my love that collide

Just can’t let you see

That I’ve cried

Over traces of you

Sunlight dances on your face

I’m in my warm safety place

And I can’t help but feel

I love you so, and now

My dreams are so real

There can be no doubt now

That I can’t be without you

Pretty ruffles and dresses

The stage lights glitter on your tresses

I sit and contemplate your beauty

With a smile, you see right through me

Looking inside, what do you see?

Can you see that deep

And beautiful part of me?

There can be no doubt

I can’t be without you!

Sunlight, forever

As long as we’re together

My soul feels light as a feather

And I feel young and free again

My Sunshine, light my way…

The little shadow you've happened upon
Is not as helpless and shamed as it appears
Not as paralyzed by paranoia and fears
As may be thought on first inspection
Never trying to achieve any sort of perfection
This shadow child’s already shed a million tears
A specter become content with imperfections

There is beauty in darkness
A safe place to dwell within
There is no need to fear it
Sometimes to hide in the shadow
Is the best way to go
Keeping out of the sun
Before the world can kill you
With sensory overload

There is a long road
Best traveled at night
There won’t always be
Someone there to hold you tight
Keep out of plain view
But keep well aware
When it’s time to show
You’ll know the time is right

Photographic Memory (Poetry)

Inside’s a maddening collage

Of vivid mental photography

Some of it dearly beautiful

But a lot of it pitiful

Sad stories repeat and proliferate

As all the tears flood around me

I find it increasingly hard to concentrate

Seeing those sad faces over and over

Always the best friend to the pushover

Trying to wake the sleeping children

From under their thick ignorant cover

Too much bullshit that’s been fed

Into their innocent lil’ heads

But truly they understand more

Than is expected and accepted

Cursed photographic memory

Forgettable scenes of the nobodies

Unforgettable thru unique perspective

With a mind well cognizant of

The fact we’re far more than bodies

Run by chemical action and reaction

Inside an album of the forgotten

My photographic memory’s a curse

Has me often living in reverse

My only comfort is that things

As they are - could be far worse

Rejection, neglect, what can I share with the world?

I’ll never have enough to fix it all

I look around and try to dissect all that I see,

Why do I feel saving the world’s my call?

Formulate opinions with my intellect

Why don’t I walk proudly instead of crawl?

Come up with reasons to explain all of it

I won’t have the net to break the fall

Insanity Fair (Poetry)

Come see grand exhibits,

The fashion queen is here?

Hey, am I looking good, baby?

Our external appearance is

Such an overblown fear

Some would much rather

See chaos and perplexing absurdity.

They'd rather see something new,

Something they've never

Seen before, ‘cause seriously

This pop thing is leaving lots of us blue.

Insanity fair, you know I'll be there

You'll be looking pretty with bows in your hair

Yeah, it's all about the competitive flair

Dressing up so cute, applying makeup with care

Hell, man, we're loving the rivalry

Who gives a shit if you got time for me?

It's so damn great dreaming my fantasy

That maybe one day I'll hang with celebrity

Insanity fair, you know I'll be there

You'll be looking pretty with bows in your hair

Yeah, it's all about the competitive flair

Dressing up so cute, applying makeup with care

Pretty pictures taken

All over the covers

Of the pop magazines

Wonder how many are faking

This beauty they portray

Making peeps dress their way

This and that, right over here is

The perfect outfit in which to get laid

Insanity fair, you know I'll be there

You'll be looking pretty with bows in your hair

Yeah, it's all about the competitive flair

Dressing up so cute, applying makeup with care

Hey, girls, yeah, the sex appeal

Too bad this image of perfection

Ain't at all real, I hate the fake,

You know how I feel!

Invisible Glass (Poetry)

Picture
Never sharing a word of conversation

Even if I agree with her observation

Looking in from the outside

There's invisible glass between us

We can't touch it, or feel it

It's just there, and we can't break it

Cause neither of us will try

You need to let go - of the past

I wasn't me then, understand,

I know that you've heard this

Said as a lie, but believe you me

I ain't lying to you

This glass is so shiny

I'm looking right through

But maybe the “you”

I see - isn't really you

Maybe my mind has gone

And exaggerated, overanalyzed,

This is so complicated.

There's invisible glass between us

We can't touch it, or feel it

It's just there, and we can't break it

Cause neither of us will try

You need to let go, of the past

I wasn't me, then, understand

I know that you've heard, this

Said as a lie, but believe you me

I ain't lying to you

Is it this unbreakable

Is it this unalterable

Do we really repel so much

Are we really opposites

Of the same magnetic pole?

Invisible glass, between the

Two of us, just there,

Can't be broken

Cause neither of us

Will dare even try

We aren't meant to

Say a word to

Ask you to

Understand me so

We can, be friendly

And stop this

Private Little War

Right here!

Invisible... invisible

We aren't meant to associate

We aren't meant to share anything

We aren't meant to wonder why

We aren't meant to understand why

This invisible glass

For some reason here protects us

There's something in you

And something in me

That may react horribly...

This invisible glass

May serve a purpose

But it drives me up a wall

To see you almost every day

I feel so helplessly small

Unpublished Novelist (Poetry)

Eye tells hand where to point

The cursor, open file, and read

This is the story of a certain one

Who did nothing but type away

In all the days, the words add up

Millions and millions, hard drive

Almost totally full with only words

Stories, poems, prose, and speech

What are the lessons that this one

Poor soul was trying to teach

The outside world was too far away

To reach with her message

Who would have listened anyway?

For they would comprehend so little

Or nothing of what she had to say

The world, she said, too busy in play

Worshipping the Devil and feeding

His demons their souls and hearts

Such harsh words to vilify human-kind

They were the words of an, indeed

Unpublished novelist, who seriously

Was writing a story, not of course,

Speaking in literal terms, we would

Like to believe that to be true

We can't be sure, it's up to you

To read, and interpret, its truths

The full moon tonight

Staring down from the sky

We're under a watchful eye

We know You're watching.

Staring down

Ashamed of what You see

All this is, this tragedy

We live each day within

We can't escape the hearth

The glowing embers of sin

All around us, can't begin

To understand us, how much

We could let poison our hearts

Staring down

But this time,

We're staring back up!

The full moon tonight

Staring down from the sky

We're under a watchful eye

We know You're watching.

I Am (Poetry)

(11-4-2004)

I am, what you see right here, I am

What this world doesn't want to see

Someone who goes against the flow

And raises his voice above the popular echo

I am, not what they want me to be

I am sometimes unpopular, sometimes

I am ridiculed so harshly by the critics

I am a little insane sometimes

I am little crazy o'er the girls

I am quite imperfect, you know

That's the thing, you see

I am a little bit more than outrageous, and

I've had times where I've been far...

Less than courageous...

The popular echo, the popular echo, the popular…

Individuality, uniqueness, individuality

You are special somehow, we don't always know

What you're meant to do, but we know that

You're more than all right, just as you are.

But where, when does the curtain fall?

When are you, just a little too outspoken?

When have you gone… a little too far?

I can't answer, you'll have to find for yourself

I am just one who makes you think

Through the words that I write

And I am prob'ly just another fool

Who tells ya'll just be yourself,

Whatever that may be.

Even if they don't like it

You see, least you can always be yourself

And say I am... this is me... I AM!

I am wild and free

I am what I want to be

I am what I am,

You gotta be what you are!

Thoughts wandering
Concepts pondering
A purpose fleeting
Compassion bleeding
Time is racing,
Speeding along undeterred
And unannounced
Growing older by the second
Am I one bit wiser
Or is it better to
Be a penny richer?
A style of life
Is just another
Road we take
Free spirits wander
Never we're really alone
Someone is always beside us
That companion we may not
Always see
But the company
Is always there

Where the sky meets the water
That is where I want to be
Or is where the water meets the sky
Rather how I should put it?

I wish to reach for the endless horizon
The great infinity, the indescribable beauty
To reach farther, to dream further, to stretch
My imagination to the highest firmament

I long to dream of a place, a neverending sea
In which I can dive to find the greatest treasures
The strangest creatures and the darkest crannies
A great adventure like none before ever had

I wish to one day break free of all firmaments
To fly free into the starry night through the galaxies
The infinite universe ever expanding in harmony and grace
I wish to explore the infinite sea of the human imagination

The greatest firmament that ever was
That isn't a firmament at all

I Stand (Poetry)

Here I am

Pretending to be

Another man

Somebody you dream about

I think about it, how vain

That such a man could be me

Can I stand?

Can I stand?

To be what you want

To be what you need

Two separate things

You can’t understand

Can I stand this anymore?

Here I stand

In a foreign land

Who are these?

Strange folks

Staring at me?

Who do you choose to be?

Am I really free?

In this critical land?

Your smile it warms me

And it pains me, too

Why can’t I get you?

To love me as I am

The world can be so cruel

I’m no simple fool

You won’t tell me what to be

Stand for what you are

Stand... for where you are

Today, you’ve come too far

And why, can’t they

Just like you as you are

Here I am covering

Up all these scars

But I’m still standing

As what I’ve always been

Painting Over Humanity

We paint our faces like paper dolls
Hiding behind a foolish mask
An untrue reflection of who we are
Is what we show to the world

We paint our pastures with altered cows
If we don't bulldoze them first
Make way for more buildings
Our improvements destroy nature to its core

We paint our mistakes in another's blood
Simply because we'll be forgiven
It doesn't matter who or what we hurt
Because we'll just repent

We paint our world with a permanent mess
Not caring about its pain
How many times must we repeat each mistake
Before our lessons are learned

We seem to crave destruction
Disguising it as new and improved
But there are a growing number of us
Committed to saving humanity

Which of it will you be a part of?

“Want Some Company” (2002)

You gotta crawl before you walk
You gotta think before you talk
And there are gonna be fools who
Will break the most simple of rules
They seem to have the pretension
If they get a few detentions
They'll make some sweet new connections
All they want is some company

Schools have become an affliction
Said to improve on your diction,
Work on your organization
Well, these words come out at random
Look, I've started my own fandom
We’ll keep each other’s company
Won’t hand you a memorandum
My company comes with no fee

Illusion (Poetry)

“Illusion (In the Beholder’s Eye)"

If Beauty’s in the eye of the beholder

What does the Beholder think?

Of her face, so pretty?

What does the Beholder want to see?

Illusion, illusion, what do you see, love?

Love, makeup distorts the natural grace

Illusion, illusion, what do you want

To see, pretty, love, she is a queen,

Royalty, we associate beauty with its name

But as history shows, the ugliest thing

Mark it so, ugly. Style and fashion

Run their course, definite and short

But beauty’s not an opinion

It’s just a state of mind.

Illusion, illusion, what do you see, now?

Love, the natural grace is hidden

I have a choice to choose between

The model and the poor girl

You know, the model is so far, prettier?

Well, it’s just because we give her a label,

If you look again, the poor girl’s

So much prettier than you realized

Illusion, illusion, beholder, tell me this

Contests of beauty, I can’t relate

I ain’t any judge, but I won’t vote

On this made-up face

The day has barely begun

When the paranoia overcomes

The better part of me

That I thought could never succumb

To selfish desires, yeah

Screaming out for connection

Yelling out for affection

I’m barely alive

I’m barely alive

This emptiness inside

No bees buzzing round in this hive

Feed me sweetness, candies

I’m barely alive

Hanging on, for your sweet love

Senses overload, aroma therapy

Feeling the flesh, heading down

That forbidden road, quite a highway now

Hot and fresh, acting as a total clown

Around that sexy lady-kind o’er there

I’m barely alive

This emptiness inside

No bees buzzing round in this hive

Feed me sweetness, candies

I’m barely alive

Hanging on, for your sweet love

Sensational, scintillating beauties

Paranoid and loving so many cuties

I’m barely alive

Come take my hand

Come take my hand
Promise me you'll stay
As you take my hand
I'm telling you now

Blow me away
Like a lovely
Leaf on the breeze
To take me somewhere
That no one else sees
A world high above this one

Blow me away
With your amazing beauty
Your sweet voice and your duty
Of making sad days happy
I've been blown away

I thought before but no
Not this high or this far
Never seen the ground
That far below
I can rise above those fears

The ones that have caused all the tears
Fears of being rejected
So often feeling neglected
You've blown me away, love
I'm fire on the wind

And I feel resurrected...

Lyn Lomasi is founder and owner of the Brand Shamans network. She is your brand healing, soul healing, marketing & content superhero to the rescue! Running a network of websites, tackling deadlines single-handedly, and coaching fellow writers, brands, & entrepreneurs to be thought leaders is her top priority.

While rescuing civilians from boring content and brands, this awesomely crazy family conquers the world, managing Intent-sive Nature while going on Upstream Parenting adventures & lessons, sometimes in an RV. They strive to cuddle with lions and giraffes. Until then, they settle for rescue dogs and cats.

By supporting us, you support a single parent, healer,  and minority small business that donates to and/or stands for several causes, including homeless pets, homeless people, trans youth, equality, helping starving artists, and more! A portion of all proceeds from our all-inclusive store, Intent-sive Nature goes toward worthy causes.

For guidance in the world of freelance writing or for advice on her specialty topics, Ask Lyn.
