The cottagecore aesthetic fashion trend is booming in 2020! Also known as prairie dressing or farmcore, the aesthetic has taken off during the COVID-19 as a sort of “safe form of escape,” according to Teen Vogue. But, it’s been on the rise on Instagram since 2019, and now taking off thanks to TikTok in 2020. Thing is, the aesthetic has become popular recently so it sometimes can be hard to track down exactly what fits into cottagecore fashion when shopping online.

But, it’s important to understand that cottagecore is even more of an idealized lifestyle than just a fashion trend. It’s not just quilted jackets, puffy sleeves, and sweeping prairie gowns. Along with it goes actually taking part in a simple lifestyle based on idealized Western farm culture. This includes being involved with activities like baking, crocheting, and sewing.
