But. due to some hosting issues, the site got so popular that it crashed. While I was able to straighten out the problem, Google had docked the rankings so badly during the site's downtime that even after several months my traffic never recovered. I bid the site adieu at the beginning of 2015 and transferred the majority of content to Gaming Successfully.
Along the way, I've tried many different things. Some articles have proven extremely popular. But, I have never realized the same community and popularity that Win Target Game had. Now, five years later, I came up with a new goal. That goal was the original one I had when I started Elspeth for the Win: to review EVERY RARE Magic the Gathering card in existence.
I was a bit inspired by POJO, who has been doing Card of the Day for years. But, I wanted to make a whole site out of it. That's pretty much what Win Target Game was, with the occasional deck profile or feature topic. Somewhere along the way I lost what made that site special, which was the dedication to giving every Magic card a chance to shine.
So, starting in 2020, I am beginning a brand new series, Every Magic Card Has a Story. The way it will go is each day I will use the Random Card feature on Scryfall. If it's a card we haven't covered yet, then I'll write about it. I'll try to do as many as possible in a day to get this series jump-started. Over time, we'll run into cards I've already written about in the past. So, I'll be sure to refer to those articles as we go.
Originally I was going to start with Ikoria and work my way back. But the random nature of the EMCHAS review is going to mean we have to give every card it's due. There will be no bias and no predictability. It should be a lot of fun and an endless source of content for as long as new Magic card sets are being released.
