by Samson Quin ![]() The AQUARIANS The Aquarians are perhaps the most mysterious of all the System's intelligent races. They hail from the world of Aquos, a planet covered 98% by water. While they are amphibious creatures that can in fact walk on land, they prefer to spend most of their lives in the water. In fact, most of their major cities are deeply underwater. They claim their ancestry is linked to supposedly mythical sea dragon. But it's more likely and more widely believed that they are in fact just a highly evolved and intelligent species of amphibian. However, the dragon connection would explain their incredible magical abilities. Aquarians are very fast, and have some of the strongest Aurika powers in their Star System. Despite their extremely great raw Aurika power, however, they are at a great disadvantage outside of the water. This is due to their extremely fleshy bodies and weak bone structure. They do enjoy great speed in their swimming, however, and only the Draygun have any chance of keeping up with them in a race through the water. Due to their many weaknesses outside of water, although they can live outside of water for extended periods of time, off-world, Aquarians are limited to peripheral roles in League society. The Aquarians are very graceful creatures and are considered one of the most beautiful species in the entire League of Worlds. Their ventral fins can double as arms and legs, although their manual dexterity is greatly limited. They don't really need manual dexterity, though, because of the intensity and fine-tuning of their Aurika powers from an extremely young age. Their cities are built and greatly protected by magic. While the Aquarians themselves are squishy, their cities are virtually impenetrable. Their race possesses extremely powerful weaponry, so no world would ever dare war with them. The most famous Aquarian is Saqi Nero. Once one of the championed warriors of the League, he later spent many years on the Council of Twenty-One for the League of Worlds. As he aged, however, he relented his seat to his young nephew Akki. He would make a name for himself in the worst possible ways. Despite Akki's tarnishing of the Aquarians' reputation in the League, Saqi uses his still good name and influence throughout the System. He continues to organize many charitable functions to bring necessities to the less fortunate. Saqi is always a Voice of Reason and often goes out of his way to perform random acts of kindness. His two wives, Jaqi and Geeni are almost equally as famous as Saqi. But besides Jaqi being a great ambassador for her race across the League, she and her co-spouse use Saqi’s reputation to their advantage in living extremely pampered lives.

by Samson Quin As someone who's never seen a single episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL anime, you may wonder why I felt compelled to draw Tori Meadows from that particular show. Well, I was a big fan of the Yu-Gi-Oh and Yu-Gi-Oh GX animes. I watched some of the card games on motorcycles, too, and it wasn't as bad as people make it out to be, especially the original Japanese version.
So it would make sense that I was interested in checking out the Yu-Gi-Oh Wikia when looking up info about a particular card. Featured on the front page was Tori Meadows from the then brand-new ZEXAL series. This was around the time that I was drawing any character at all that piqued my interest. Really, these sorts of drawings were only practice. But this one came out pretty well, so I went ahead and colored it in and everything. I think what compelled me to draw Tori was the unusual hairstyle and honestly her color scheme of green hair and pink and white clothing. There wasn't really any other reason other than that she was practice for drawing my own characters. But it was an enjoyable piece to draw and share. by Samson Quin One of my all-time favorite Pokemon, Misdreavus is also one of the easier Pokemon to draw well. I have a long history of Misdreavus being on my Pokemon teams from way back in Gold and Silver. Her much more recent evolved form, Mismagius, is also a big part of my Pokemon history - but I don't have a drawing of her to share with ya'll just yet.
I think I've always been such a fan of Misdreavus because although she's tiny, she packs quite a punch! Who's your favorite Pokemon? by Samson Quin I love Pokemon. It's too bad I haven't been able to keep up with the newer games since Omega Ruby came out. Sun and Moon look awesome. One of the Pokemon that's featured as one of the Alolan alternate forms is Meowth. I can't wait to one day raise an Alolan Meowth, but for now, I guess I can enjoy this drawing I made of Meowth back in early 2014.
While it's not one of my favorite art pieces, it's one that a lot of people have liked from me. I always really enjoyed the character of Meowth in Team Rocket from the Pokemon anime. So he's definitely one of my favorite Pokemon... and he's a talking cat, so... yeah. 'Nuff said. by Samson Quin
by Samson Quin Gemini "Gem" Starr is one of the many offspring of Felona Queen Luna Dawnstar. She was originally meant to be a huge part of the Legend of Cronokai story. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened. In fact, besides this and another drawing I probably no longed have, I only have a couple of minor mentions of her in my various scattered manuscripts. Basically, I only have it down that she was extremely cranky as a kitten and that she eventually became a renowned weaponsmith. But I remember there being much more to her character.
Gem is actually one of my all time favorite character designs of mine. This was definitely one of my better 2013 drawings, but it really doesn't completely do her justice. The fact that she is so different on both sides is pretty cool, and I think I captured that pretty well. She actually has a third ponytail in her hair at the back of her head that's half-black and half-blonde. Also, I didn't quite depict her tail or her build quite correctly. Her tail is much fluffier and her build much more buxom with wider hips as I recall imagining her. She's a big girl and definitely not some one to mess with. Not only is her appearance that much like a two face calico cat, but she also has quite a split personality, as well. She really deserves a lot of face time in the comics, and she probably will at some point. There is a lot to say about her and she had quite an influence on Luna Starlight in the original universe that I dreamed up. It's likely that we'll see a lot of her in the future. This is one character that I'm going to love drawing in profile for comics, because she really is like two characters in one. by Samson Quin ![]() Kemona Verdi is a character who featured heavily in my original concepts of the Legend of Cronokai story. She is one of the "Seven Deadly Sins" characters that I originally conceived, but later she became more of a minor character who becomes more of a nuisance than anything else. Her original title was the Aspect of Sloth, who is a master of creating idle diversions while the rest of her evil friends do the real dirty work. She is a Tamlar, but unlike most of her tall, lanky brethren, Kemona is short and stocky. This stature made her alienated from the rest of her race. While the way I would draw Kemona now is slightly different than what I Did back in 2013, the character is pretty much going to look the same if she appears in future stories. I still have the original of Kemona, which I drew back on 8-23-2013 with only pencil. This is around the time that I was beginning to color them in on the computer. |
