Gemini "Gem" Starr is one of the many offspring of Felona Queen Luna Dawnstar. She was originally meant to be a huge part of the Legend of Cronokai story. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened. In fact, besides this and another drawing I probably no longed have, I only have a couple of minor mentions of her in my various scattered manuscripts. Basically, I only have it down that she was extremely cranky as a kitten and that she eventually became a renowned weaponsmith. But I remember there being much more to her character.
Gem is actually one of my all time favorite character designs of mine. This was definitely one of my better 2013 drawings, but it really doesn't completely do her justice. The fact that she is so different on both sides is pretty cool, and I think I captured that pretty well. She actually has a third ponytail in her hair at the back of her head that's half-black and half-blonde. Also, I didn't quite depict her tail or her build quite correctly. Her tail is much fluffier and her build much more buxom with wider hips as I recall imagining her. She's a big girl and definitely not some one to mess with.
Not only is her appearance that much like a two face calico cat, but she also has quite a split personality, as well. She really deserves a lot of face time in the comics, and she probably will at some point. There is a lot to say about her and she had quite an influence on Luna Starlight in the original universe that I dreamed up. It's likely that we'll see a lot of her in the future. This is one character that I'm going to love drawing in profile for comics, because she really is like two characters in one.
