Reportedly, he was awarded the equivalent of $120,000 USD on the basis that his wife had plastic surgery before they married and didn’t tell him. He claims he was deceived into believing she was beautiful and that because of this deception, the children ended up being ugly.
This is ridiculous in my opinion. While I don’t promote plastic surgery (I advocate for natural beauty), I still don’t believe this is fair. First off, who calls their own children ugly just to get some money? I’m sorry but I’m not going to insult my own children just to gain a monetary reward of some sort. I don’t get that part at all.
Secondly, what gives him the right to determine what she does with her own body and looks? And exactly how is it deceptive on her part to birth so-called ugly children? I’ve given birth four times and not one of those times have I ever been able to determine exactly how my children would look when they came out.
Thirdly, looks are a matter of perspective. I am disgusted that a court actually made a ruling that basically says these kids are ugly. Whether intentional or not, a ruling like this essentially says that it’s okay for a man to dictate what a woman does with her own body, as well as reject the appearance of his own children.
As if humans didn’t disappoint me enough when I read about the mockery of a dead homeless man, I had to see this story as well. When will people learn that beauty (which is subjective) or another superficial label does not make the person? When will they learn to see people for who they truly are and accept them as they are, rather than trying to mold them into specific “ideals?”
Perhaps if people didn’t pull stunts like these and objectify women so much in other ways, this woman would not have felt the need to have the plastic surgery to begin with. I wonder if this man thought about that while he was judging the way his own children looked on the outside. I wonder if he knows them for who they really are.
