Nova really loves being in her Boppy Nursing Pillow. As pictured, it has a pink bird slipcover on it. Ever since we brought her home from the hospital, she has enjoyed sleeping, feeding, and lounging in it. I highly recommend it to anyone with a baby, as it's multi-functional, portable, and cozy. Enjoy these pictures of Nova enjoying her Boppy from newborn up to 4 months (her current age).
Nova really enjoy laughing with Nathan and has pretty much since day one. Enjoy these fun pictures and videos of brother and sister laughing away. Nova got to play with a train set for the first time today. Aja and Nathan were playing and she wanted to join in, so we let her (with close supervision). See the photo gallery below to find out how much fun she had. All Images © Lyn Lomasi and © Aja B ; All Rights Reserved
From her first day of birth, Nova has loved her Philips Avent Soothie pacifiers. But in the past few days, Nova has grown up enough to give it up on her own. The photo collage below shows her beautiful pacifier journey from beginning to end. As you'll see, we have the Philips Avent Soothies in various colors, in teddy bear, and even with a giraffe attached (by WubbaNub, using a Soothie). Nova absolutely adored her pacifiers, but only that kind. However, lately she has been teething, so we think it's a combination of that and her growing up and doing more things that made her just give them up on her own. Thanks to the makers of the Soothies for the help with keeping her calm for her first 4 months of life. Now she's apparently ready for lots more adventures! Fun Pacifier Photo Memories From Beginning To End
All Photos © Lyn Lomasi; All Rights Reserved Nova made her first drawing today, at just 4 months old! Her big sister Aja was using the pencil and she grabbed it from her. So, Aja gave Nova a piece of paper and she went to town. We got part of it on video. (VIDEO BELOW) Normally, a pencil is not ideal for a baby, but it was a spur of the moment thing (educational moments should be seized, not taken away) and she was being watched very closely by several of us. When she gets a drawing utensil on purpose, it will be a crayon.
Three and a half month old baby Nova Skye laughs hysterically on video about her first time in a restaurant highchair. While you can't see them in the video, mom and dad were right there watching. It was mommy who took the video and both of them were talking to her.
Nova really enjoys her Evenflo Exersaucer. She plays in it just about every day. Here's some cute pictures of her playing in it outside at a campground in Strasburg, CO.
Nova turned 3 months old yesterday (9/2/2016)! Check out the fun photo gallery below, after reading about her amazing baby milestones at three months old. Nova is getting so big and enjoying so much more. She finally got to test out her Evenflo Exersaucer that Grandma Rowell got for her and she absolutely loves it! Don't worry, she has all the signs of being ready to use it, such as being able to control her own head and pushing with her feet if in a standing position. There are more signs, but that should give you an idea. She was so funny playing with it. She got extremely excited and said hi to the teddy bear and monkeys several times. She does that to everything with a face, be it a toy or a person. Speaking of signs, Nova had a well-baby checkup recently and guess what?! She's developing well and has met or exceeded every single milestone for her age. She weighed 9 lbs, 3 oz, as of 8/31/2016. That's up significantly from her birth weight of 5 lbs, 7.5 oz. She's also now 2o inches long! She was a little under 17 inches at birth. Nova is playing a ton these days and is super active during the day. She plays with her feet, plays with any toys we put near her or hand to her, plays in the Exersaucer, laughs when people do silly things, requests specific toys with a distinct sound when she sees them, and so much more. Her favorites include a monkey teething blanket, the Exersaucer, a small Pokemon figurine that Nathan gave her, family members, cardboard tubes, her Summer Infant SuperSeat, an elephant wind chime my mom has (she likes to ring the bells with her feet), and a few more. Nova's been doing so much lately that we can hardly keep up! Stay tuned for the next post. It's even easier if you hit the subscribe button on the right sidebar, so you don't miss a thing. All Images © Lyn Lomasi; All Rights Reserved (Unless Otherwise Stated) ![]() Baby Nova Skye always has such a cute natural mohawk. Rich and I love it and were both getting tired of our hair. Therefore, we decided to be different with our hairstyles in support of Nova. As always, we were our own hairstylists. No salons are getting our money for something we can do ourselves. Rich got a mohawk. My hair refuses to stay up in the air, no matter what we do, so no mohawk for me yet. But we did reshave the undercut even shorter than before, as well as trim some more off the top. I had to curl it under to make it stay up and the shorter pieces don't stay up unless I do that, hence no mohawk. Oh well. (Our haircuts pictured below)
Nova Skye is growing so fast! Here's a comparison of her in the same outfit while in her Boppy, both at 6 days and again at 3 months.
by Richard Rowell, Proud Father ![]() Nova's been wearing a lot of "new" stuff lately. This Bon Bebe monkey 0-3 month onesie is yet another that she now fits after getting closer to three months old. It's yet another thing we got from one of the Safari Thrift $4 bag sales. In fact, it was the same bag sale as a lot of the ones that she's wearing now! There are a pair of pants that go with it, but it may be a little warm today to wear them. We're having a lot of fun seeing her actually fitting a lot of the clothes that everyone bought her before she was even before. It's a heck of a lot more fun to see a baby wear it than to just sit there in a bin, that's for sure! Here are a few more pictures of her in the monkey outfit. Plus, a couple of Nova smiles that Daddy had to coax out of her using some monkey sounds. Ha, ha! Ever since Nova got her Graco SnugRide Click Connect 30 Infant Car Seat, she likes to be in it a ton. That's a good thing since we're a very active family. She's got the Zuba design, but it comes in many choices. Whether she rides it in our '77 Winnebago, our '97 Toyota 4Runner, or her Graco LiteRider Click Connect Stroller, Nova enjoys every moment in her car seat. Enjoy the photos posted below.
Sometimes Nova even wants to play in the car seat when we're not going anywhere. Thanks a bunch to Grandma Rowell for buying it for her. She also has a Graco 4Ever (which is super awesome), but the SnugRide is more portable, whereas the 4Ever generally stays put since it can't latch into the stroller. We use both though, depending on what's going on. The 4Ever can be used all the way throughout her childhood, as it converts into a forward-facing car seat, as well as a high back booster and a bigger child booster.

Nova is growing so fast and outgrowing so many of her outfits. Fortunately, we have plenty of 3 month outfits ready to go from before she was born. This Gerber penguin onesie is a 3 to 6 month outfit that she now fits into perfectly. We actually got this from one of the $4 bag sales at Safari Thrift in February. Here are pictures from her first time wearing it.
Nova Skye is being a kitty in these pictures! Nova's big sister, Tia got her this outfit for her baby shower and she is finally able to wear it. It also has pajamas with it but it was too hot for those when she wore it yesterday. There's a cute kitty on the onesie and another kitty on the bib. The jammies are cheetah print, matching that part of the bib and the brown trim on the onesie. Meow!

If you like this outfit, Amazon has a good deal on it right now.
Yesterday, we decided to buy some early Halloween decorations before the good stuff was gone. Nova apparently thought the skull ghoul was hilarious and wouldn't stop laughing at him. Thanks to big sister Aja for grabbing my phone and getting it on film. This is the first time Nova has laughed this hugely. She's done some smaller laughs here and there, but nothing like this.
Leave it to one of my kids to have a first laugh at something Halloween-related. It's my favorite holiday and around here we celebrate Halloween as whole-heartedly as some celebrate Christmas. Looks like she is fitting right in, as well as developing quite the personality. We did not expect that response from Nova when Aja took out the skull ghoul.

With Nova becoming more active as she approaches three months, she's spending a lot of time in her infant support seat. Nova's also teething now, so she's taking advantage of the teething toys attached to the ring around the seat. We added one of her other teething toys to it, as well. Here's a video of Lyn playing with Nova as she sits in her seat.
by Lyn Lomasi, Write W.A.V.E. Media Staff We discovered recently that Nova is probably teething and got a video of her being silly with her dress. Here's another fun video of almost 3 month old teething Nova. This time, she's talking about and chewing on her teething blanket. (If the video loads slow or looks like a picture, click on it to view on Flickr. Some browsers may require this.) Nova's been growing like crazy and she think it's funny! When we tried to get her dressed the other day, Nova laughed hysterically as we searched for something to fit. See those pics, as well as some others depicting her growth and sense of humor. We ended up having to dig through her "will wear later" storage bin and take out a bunch more stuff and put away lots of things she outgrew. Ask us later about which pieces of baby clothing will get new homes and which will be kept for memories. We're still processing the fact that she already can't wear them anymore when she was swimming in them seemingly just yesterday. All Images © Lyn Lomasi; All Rights Reserved
![]() Today Nova decided she wanted to be silly and "eat" her dress lots and lots. We think she might be teething because she's been putting everything she can reach into her mouth and biting it. The videos and pics show a little bit of her silliness with using her dress as a teether today. From using it in her support seat, to our laps, to the car seat and stroller, she's been insistent upon chewing up her dress all day. Well, more like gumming it since she has no teeth haha. She's got plenty of teething toys and two teething blankets, but her dress seems to be her favorite of the day. by Richard Rowell, Proud Father ![]() At almost two and a half months, Nova is growing so fast. She's at the point where she holds her head up pretty well, so Lyn and I invested in a support seat with toys. It's a Summer Infant Giggles Positioner and Activity Seat. She really loves it, and especially likes the blue toucan and red monkey that hang from the adjustable bar over her head. In not too long, she'll be sitting up doing everything. No more laying down all night and day. She gets to see a lot more of the world sitting up. No more being stuck studying ceilings. Nova gets pretty excited now about just about everything. She does sometimes get overstimulated, which can happen at this age. So we watch her carefully so that she gets the most out of it, but doesn't get overwhelmed. Nova's getting to a very exciting age. Before we know it, she'll be having real conversations with us and running around exploring. Can't wait. More pics of Nova in her seat taken by Lyn.

Today was Nova's first time in the stroller without the car seat. Rich was taking a video of the event, but unfortunately, Nova started crying before Lyn could explain why we were making a video. It was still cute, though, so we're sharing it.
Lyn took three videos of Nova's tummy time in her bassinet yesterday. There's a bonus video of her enjoying her travel mobile.
by Richard Rowell, Privileged Father ![]() I wrote this bit on Facebook today: Nova is such a good baby. I mean, yeah, she's my kid and all. But there's more to it than that. She's clearly super smart, fascinated by everything. She's already watching TV with us, listens to music with us, and tries to tell us stuff. It's really awesome watching this little person slowly but surely growing before our eyes. It's really a privilege. Also, it's a great responsibility to care for such a fragile, nascent life. I feel now more than ever that I'm up to it. At least, that's how I feel for now! Yesterday, Nova turned three weeks old. While she's still really little, she is definitely growing. It's amazing just how much she eats for such a little thing, but now she's sleeping a lot more, too. I haven't gotten to write nearly as much about her as I'd like to, but that's a result of needing to be on call to take care of her when needed. Lyn and I are trying to get work done, but Nova is quite the little distraction. It's both good and bad, but of course, our little girl is the more important thing. Money is definitely needed, but the baby has to come first. So I've just recently gotten back to actually writing stuff. I should be getting into writing more specific things again. There just haven't been a lot of landmark things to mention just yet. All I can say is Nova is a good baby. She's still a handful, but definitely a pleasant one. by Richard Rowell, Proud Father Who Fails At Dressing His Baby Girl :-P ![]() Daddy dressed Nova this morning! That is, somehow... I actually spaced out a bit this morning holding her sleeping cuteness. Lyn asked me like a half hour before I actually did to get her clothes changed. But she was just too cute and I sort of just sat there. I poked at my phone a bit, but mostly I just wanted to hold her. Newborns do that to you. Anyway, once I actually got started, the struggle was real. Nova's diaper was quite dirty, but she wasn't complaining at all. Then as soon as I took the diaper off she peed again! Fortunately, it wasn't much of a mess and I managed to clean it up. Lyn helped me wipe her off and I took care of the dirty clothes and I cleaned off the changing pad. The only time she was upset the whole time was when she got cold, wet and naked from the baby wipes. After successfully putting on a new diaper, and calming her down, the struggle continued for me. Fortunately, while I was really struggling with her dressing, Nova was an absolute riot. She thought her clothes were quite yummy and kept grabbing them from me. Though Daddy kept failing terribly, she was happy the whole time. The end result was heart-meltingly adorable. So yet another first for this new dad. I was successful in changing her, even if it took me like ten times longer than it should have. It was great bonding time! More cuteness below! OVERLOAD! |
